Roath Park Conservatory is an easy place to take for granted for residents of the city. We all dimly remember going as children, notice it as we pass through the park, and immediately discount it as an attraction in its own right. But with younger children, it is a lovely way to spend the afternoon, especially for those feeling the chill.
There are crayons and boards to keep kids busy, which makes the option of unwinding on a bench and taking in the lush tropical plants and the splash of the waterfall even more appealing. Giant carp pass slowly around a large pond, observed by a couple of rare ducks. What appears from the outside to be a 10 minute distraction, could be stretched to a couple of hours by the artful landscaping within, which makes this tiny tropical paradise an adventure land worth exploring.
