Although Barry gets its fair share of tourists in search of Stacey and Nessa, you’d never know from watching Gavin and Stacey that Barry beach is well worth a visit at any time of year. In fact, the wide expanse of sand in front of the town is usually immaculate, making it the perfect place to swim and sunbathe in the summer or stroll in the winter. Of course, the main draw is that it’s only a short train ride from Cardiff, making Barry the most accessible beach from the capital. The Ship is a reasonably-priced, welcoming family pub, if you fancy extending your walk.
